Looking forward to making this one , although the seized engine from last year has still not been replaced.

Didn't enjoy waving you all off for a jolly ride last time.

If it can be sorted by anyone, it'll be your good self that sorts it :thumbsupanim:

Here's hoping.

As an alternative, you could, maybe, call your Highland contacts and stage a sort of "impromptu" visit too & through the Glens, as per last year and the year before!

Thanks again Austin for taking the time and putting in the effort to sort out the things that you do for the folk that inhabit this and the other forum

I am sorry but this event is not going to go ahead. I simply haven't made enough time to arrange it properly and I still haven't heard back from the forestry and the phone numbers I have are ringing out. The usual campsite is not available and I really need to go and visit at least one of the alternatives to make sure it's all ok and I have run out of free weekends to do that before the 26th Sept.

So, with regret I am pulling the plug on this years trip and I hope I am not upsetting anyone's plans too much. Next year i should have more time available to do this and other trips I have in mind.

"The best laid plans of mice and men"

Thanks for letting us know Austin and for the effort in trying to put it all together.

I've got the Friday booked off, so I may well just head south and see where I end up - there is always the other campsite just down the Loch.

Those that have been before know how nice the roads round there are, so there will be plenty to engage my little cranium.

Thanks again Austin

Well, Austin, you've done everybody proud for a good few years now with all your organisation so I don't think anybody can complain.

It'll make 'em even keener for next year.

Not to worry Austin, just goes to show that you are at the mercy of large organisations. Anyway, a big thank you for trying.

I was quietly looking forward to a little Galloway bimble.
Never mind there's always another year.
Thanks for putting in the time & effort Austin :)

Can't do the National, due to going abroad a day or so later. Not able to attend Frads farewell for the same reason :(

So, seeing as I've got the time off from work, I'm heading south for that weekend anyway.

Can always do the "open to the public" bit through the forest, either way, twice maybe! And then there are the brilliant roads in the area to enjoy, along with the scenery etc etc etc.

I away in Cornwall on a little break and finally got on 3g / wifi after a week without - its like going cold turkey being out of touch.

Anyways I have finally also heard from the forestry fella and he is ok for us to go at the same price and arrangements etc as last year so it's doable if we can act quickly and happy to do the coordinating etc as like SteveT I have Friday booked off work.

The big BUT though is that the usual campsite is booked out and I really want to check out the limited alternatives that are convenient for the forest. There's the Ken Bridge Hotel, one at Balloch O' Dee and a few others but not so convenient. I will make a few calls later tomorrow when I am home and Sunday to see what's available. But until I know we have a campsite the ride is still not on.

In the meantime it would be good to know who would definitely be coming IF I can get it set up in time. I will start a thread.

Ok I think I have found a campsite and they are fine for a group of us. I said 10-15. The site has a bothy and a "roundhouse" but both are booked up so its camping only and if the weather is not so good we will to make our own shelter. Good news is that camp fires are encouraged.

Please sign up in the other thread. The cost may be slightly more than £10 each for the forestry run if there are less than 20 of us but I can sort that on the day.

Please send your insurance Certs to Austin at Winckler . Org . UK. No spaces or anything. If you can't get a PDF then send a copy to: Spike the Dog, 40 Croston Road, Garstang PR3 1HR.
