Gents wot lunched

Met up with Phil, Paul, Austin, Steve and a few bods I didn't know up at the Ponderosa last Thursday. What wonderful weather - sat outside having lunch talking a lot of nonsense.

The star attraction was a late 20's blower Bentley -

Absolutely fabulous machine!

And just to keep the two-wheeler side up, a lovely Velocette -

Post lunch Austin leas us to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct via the back roads, one of which is known as the "Panorama Walk". I won't mention the two U-turns......... ;)

After a stroll across and back over the Aqueduct, more bleathering ensued together with a concerted effort to reduce the world's excess ice cream. :D

Not many miles done, but a great day none the less.

The only down side was coming across a downed BMW GS (I think) on the A5 just outside Pentrefoelas. Police and ambulance in attendance when I went past. Don't know any more than that.

Fastest lorries in the world! Wasn't that the quote?
And I've always had a soft spot for the Velocettes.

Rather you than me, though, walking over Pontcysyllte ....I don't do heights, and I was a bit perturbed to see just how thin the (non-towpath) side of the water trough was

Sounds like an excellent day out. Barftone is going to be jealous of the ice creams, that man cannot pass an ice cream van if we're out on the bikes in Wales.

Retirement's not all being out on the bike having fun. There's also having to stay home to take in your kids' parcel deliveries, long after they've left home. And decorating for them .......
And there's no excuse to avoid, or postpone, work around the house "because I'm needed in work"

The answer to that is to have a wee project going on somewhere away from the house, and leave the mobile at home.
Works for me. :D

It was on the a49/m56 junction, a relative of Paul/Bimbler, with home made ice cream at a farm shop :)

Next time maybe :)

About a mile south of M56/A49 take a right towards Whitley follow the road round to a farm shop. ( I think that's what Bimbler said).
