Is the Triumph's suspension really that bad?

it's not good,

I changed Ruth's Bonnie shocks within weeks as it was too hard and jarred over every bump

mine is OK but too soft and handling is compromised when cornering fast

it's well known that the Bonnies are built to a budget and the suspension is one area they cut corners on

although in all honesty I've gone for a custom sprung set-up just because I can and I think the bike is a keeper and worth it

Is that a cartridge kit for the front then Ian??

Emulators, springs and preload adjusters

I couldn't justify going the whole hog on cartridges really (although the fully custom Maxton job was tempting and not outrageous in price)

I've seen someone with a DRZ fork in his scrambler... :)

I'll try to remember to take a pic of what he's up to now to replace it, it involves dual 320 discs with radial calipers. Overbuilt? Just a bit. :)

Favourite I saw the other day

Scrambler with a Tiger 800xc front end, just needs a different bearing for the top yolk and it drops in (and some ingenuity to mount the headlight and clocks)

Well that suspension was a waste of money,

The original trumpet stuff that is [emoji3]

Night and day difference, I've just set static sag as per the instructions and rebound mid way and it seems spot on [emoji106]

Front end is kept pushed into the ground in corners nicely and back end wriggle seems to have all but disappeared (and what's left I'm putting down to running nobblies)

It usually is. :)

Built to a price and made to feel nice when new but it usually goes downhill pretty fast. My suspension guy mentions some stuff not even lasting till 20k miles or something like that before it's completely shot.

It was a funny feeling when I had the DRZ forks on the GS, all of a sudden the harsh bumps in the road would go away and come back 1.5m later when the rear wheel hit it. :D Light bulb, oh it doesn't have to be like that then. ;)
