Aircraft activity on Friday morning, ship to shore shelling in the afternoon.

Heading north as early as possible on Friday - catch as much of whats going on as possible after catching up with the range manny, then zoom home via Ullapool for some fish & chips :thumbsupanim:

Sounds like a plan.

I have come to decision.....I am coming up. A Thursday pm meeting got rescheduled today so I should be clear to leave extra early (flexi time:) ). I will then head north until I get cold and fed up or the deer start to worry me then find the nearest B&B. an early start Friday should the get me to Durness for mid morning and hopefully a few bombing runs from the RAF.

I will stay in Durness hostel on Friday night and then make my way down the west coast on Saturday and Sunday.

John, thanks for the offer to put me up but I won't impose my snoring on you and your missus.

This sounds like a super impromptu trip. Must not forget camera and binoculars.

No worries Austin, I'll pm you my mob number if you want to hook up on the way home. Gutted I can't get off early on the Friday . Have a cool time and take plenty of photos.

Ps your snoring wouldn't be an issue, but I know what it's like " imposing " believe me if snoring was an Olympic event, our house would get a gold

Catch you later

Cheers

Just saw this, would have tried to make the effort for the Saturday as I'm home till Sunday. I'm off to Lockerbie tomorrow so not home until Friday sometime, then flying from Inverness to Bristol on Sunday but in between free.
Pity it didn't work out guys.
I'll see what the weather brings I suppose, might get out on Saturday for a run with the Transalp.

Just found this photo from 10 years ago . . . .

You can just make out the aircraft departing, as the bomb detonates and the frag hits the surrounding water.

No prizes, but can anyone ID the aircraft? :D

Well that was good. :). Ship to shore shells, a laser guided bomb from a typhoon, low level passes by the typhoons and a tornado right overhead, and a lynx helicopter about 40yds away. Plus a peregrine, a buzzard, heron and other wild stuff. All in all an excellent day with nice weather. Photos are on the camera so will upload when I get home. Steve and Neil will no doubt post pics soon.

Thanks for posting :cool2:

Oh, and well done Mr W for "going the extra mile" :respect:
