RD04 and loads of spares

I have been told I am to lose access to my garage, which means an emergency clear out.

My old zebra, along with all the spares I have gathered over the years, including spare wheels, has to go.

The frame has been powdercoated and the engine, which has done 100,000, is pristine. All cables are new. The only non-standard bit on the engine is that it has K&N cone air filters direct on the carbs, with the airbox removed. I use the space to store tyre levers and tubes in case of emergency.

There is a switch on the handlebars for the fan. The rest of the wiring was made from two wiring looms, using the best bits. I have a brand new spare Reg/Rec too. I have a set of PIAA lamps with the complete wiring and switch I bought but never got round to fitting.

The bike has heated grips, run through a relay-fed fuse box switched by the ignition. It has power sockets too, and a hard-wired micro-usb wire into a handlebar mounted Otterbox for your mobile. It has a mount fitted for a Zumo 600.

It all runs off a Mottblatt battery.

The bike has a Hagon adjustable rear shock.

It currently has Kitped's front fork extensions fitted but I have the original fork tops if you want to revert to standard. The rear wheel is currently an 18inch in silver with matching front. The rear has a Mefo Stone Master and the front a TKC 80. Both wheels have brand new discs.

I have a fully rebuilt set of standard wheels too, in black, with half-worn Mitas E07s fitted, plus an unused, brand new TKC 80 rear tyre.

There's a box of spare brake units I acquired over the years too.

The rear panels still have zebra stripes on, but they can be easily sanded off. The nose cone, front panels and screen are all brand new copies in Kevlar Carbon fibre. I have painted them white, with the intention to repaints stripes, but they could simply have original decals fitted. They are not super-smooth, but neat enough - I was planning to use the bike in anger, off-road, so it's not show-room white. If you wanted it pristine you'd need to sand them down with finer paper. I have a few old panels (cracked etc) in original RWB colours that I'll throw in the mix too.

There are two petrol tanks. The first is the one I was using, which was blue, but painted in black and white stripes with Hammerite, and peeling a bit. The other is in better condition but by no means perfectly smooth. I painted that white too and lacquered it with petrol resistant lacquer. My plan had been to paint stripes back on it but, again it could have decals added. It has fuel taps but the fuel light senders will need to be swapped over from the other tank (I might do this if I have time).

I should flag up the bike runs and rides. I'd be confident to jump on it and do a few thousands mile round trip, no problem.

The bike has a new arrow end can from Rugged Roads, an RR heat guard on the exhaust and it has Hepco & Becker rear pannier rails.

It has a Givi rack and topbox that can take two helmets. The topbox also has a rack on top and the back rest for pillion.

The seat was a Corbin and I never found it comfortable so tried to insert gel pads. The seat needs work on it.

It has the Wemoto crash bars that have been used in anger off road, so could do with either a coat of white paint or re-powdercoating.

So, you can put it back to standard wheels and forks, or leave as the extra-tall beast it is now. You can sell whichever wheels you don't want, sell the unwanted spares and so on. My problem is I am going to lose my garage very soon and I do not even know how quickly I'll need to clear out, with nowhere to store this. I already have to find space for three sets of panniers and all my tools.

I can deliver, within reason, as I still have my van.

It's got to be worth more than £2K. It needs someone with the space. Any offers?

so how does that work if it's YOUR garage?

don't think I have room for another bike myself but hope you find a buyer in time

I lease it from a neighbour. The house next door has had problems with something growing up the side - in gap between my garage and their house. The owner of the garage has decided, facing legal threats from next door, to pull down the garage.

Just also found two brand new 17 inch inner tubes, a radiator fan and guard and few other bits and bobs, all put in the box of bits.

As Ian says, That's a bugger!
Too tall for me, and I've been told in no uncertain terms I can't have another bike (!), .... otherwise I'd be clearing space in the garage already. Good luck in finding a new home for the old Zebra.
