Here's one of me in a different life!! yes, a straight cough officer!! this one taken 1972, Norton 750 interpol (just look at that corker helmet!!) I was a traffic cop all my working life, I was a bike cop 1970 to 1974 :eekicon: and yes, I booked a fair few bikers!! but also put away a lot more bad guys, all part of the job that now pays me a good pension to allow me to retire to a sunnier country and enjoy riding in the Sun. My own personal bike at this time was a 1969 T120 Triumph Bonneville, and yes, I did exceed the speed limit Off duty:mockery22: Just thought I would come clean as it were :27: in case you object to Fuzz. regards, Jim :thumbsupanim:

Excellent photo.
The chap in the donkey jacket reminds me of when I first started work and I was given a donkey jacket to wear. Everyone else had black shoulder covers on heir jacket, but mine being new and this being the dawn of health and safety mine was a rather bright and somewhat reflective white.

Not to worry thinks I. I'll just remove the white reflective bit and it will look like everyone else's so with a tug and a heave off the white bit came.

Along with the sleeves.. Doh!

Already got em sussed!! lol, The pic was taken by the then Hawker siddley aviation company, now British aerospace, I was escorting the very first Airbus wing out of their factory at Hawarden, North wales to Manchester Airport for onward transport by a specially adapted Plane called "the guppie" cos of its shape!! for assembly in europe , Can't believe it was 1972, I thought the Airbus was a modern plane, just shows you how time fly's....excuse the pun. Regards, Jim

Been there, done that :D :D :D

At least your donkey jacket had white shoulders, mine were hi-viz orange. I don't think I ever did wear it :)

I wasn't even born until 74 :D

I don't mind bike cops or ex-bike cops

The few bike cops I've spoken too just enjoy riding and let's face it, they're getting paid at the same time!

I speed on the bike, be it on a motorway wanting to get home or twisties having fun (never in built up areas though, 30mph etc...) I accept that I may get my collar felt and I'm prepared to risk it, knowing the consequences.

In my job I have to report people for smoking onsite, using a mobile whilst driving, speeding etc... You get the jist. I used to feel guilty but it's every day and now I think, you know what, fek to em... They shouldn't speed onsite or talk on their phone so it's their own fault, not mine. :hitler:

One thing we have going on at the moment is limited parking (due to building works) so everyone has asked to please make sure you are parked correctly in a bay so everyone can fit in. almost every day I have to get someone to move their car and park correctly because they are taking up two bays, I mean, ffs they've been told a thousand times and it's downright fekkin selfish laziness.

Ok, rant over, here's your thread back. :D

Yes Lulu, there'll be a next one, for sure. :D

I know, Boris, big 4 0 this year... I don't know where the last 20 years has gone!

Going back a few posts, What ever happened to Donkey jackets they where brilliant, used to where my uncles NCB one every where even with the upper classes fox hunting as a young teen in horse back.

34 years on and I think it's still in the garage along with my dustcoat and pole belt.

Ditched the pole belt first chance I had. No belt, no pole climbing!

Is yours still leather? :D:D

No Mine is one of those new fangled nylon webbing things with the yellow pad on it. I tried to put it on a year or so back when I was moving things around after building the workshop and I had to let it out a long way before it would fit round my waist :) Last time I used it was in 1983 and I was a bit thinner then.

Just had a conversation with the witch in law about my donkey jacket. It did turn nasty
