Batavierenrace. Biggest relay race in the world apparently. About 8500 runners, from Nijmegen to Enschede, about 100 miles, from midnight until 6-7pm Saturday.

Or, as "we" tend to put it, a big event for about 150-200 bikers where the goal is to get to the finish as slowly and with as big a fuss as possible, with about 8500 runners getting thoroughly in the way. :D

The bikers do traffic control, and I'm in a small subgroup supporting those throughout the night with coffee/tea and pancakes. Which means repeatedly camping out in various odd places in the middle of the night to get the stoves out and make coffee and pancakes for 30+ people, then pack it all back on the bikes to distribute to people along the route. (Including some light offroading on overloaded and/or unsuitable bikes.) It's kinda crazy in a sleepdeprived way, but a lot of fun.

Ah, I remember now. You've mentioned this event before.

Sounds like it's completely nuts, but a lot of fun.

I did actually! :D

Interesting bit: How does one make pancake mix for 3 teams servicing nearly 100 hungry bikers? Simples:
