Russ

I know all that area very well and it's a great ride

I did some of those roads for everyone on the 2010(?) Wet National in Snowdonia

Tony

I'll do the Cosford trip with you on the Friday

I plan on getting down there by 9ish on Friday Morning so I can get set up and play out

If I can't I'll text you, what's your number?

Have to say for anyone interested in a few lanes, there's a good mixture of easy and one or two trickier (for an @) ones on the Long Mynd. Unfortunately I don't have maps, my satnav is caput, and my DRZ is temporarily out of action due to a dead battery. So I will probably be on the road bike. Suggest if anyone (lowflyer?) wants to explore some of the local fun stuff a quick visit to trailwise http://www.trailwise.org.uk/gmaps/gmap.htm where you can find a lovely selection of legal lanes around Ratlinghope/Wentnor/Church Stretton. Mark 'em up on a map, find someone to tag along and bobs yer uncle, you can return to the campsite with tales of derring do. :idea-013:

Bomber Lane, I did it a month ago. Nice steady lane with great views over Barmouth and the coast. There is another lane that runs parallel with Bomber Lane, just west of it. It's marked as a byway but has a tarmac surface, just watch out for the kamikaze sheep.

That looks like a fun compromise between doing a bit of light offroading and keeping the bike in fit condition to do a couple of hundred miles homewards. :)

As Alistair said there are loads of trails around the Long Myndd, I have never done any of them before but I'm going to go off for an explore :motorcycle17:

Will be riding up from South Wales earlyish Friday morning if anyone looking for a riding buddy.

Not overly keen to go to Cosford, anyone had thoughts of a bimble on Friday.

Is the Welsh Coast run on Saturday?

I'll apologise for my snoring in advance, see you all tomorrow God willing

I would have joined you but I can't get away until later as I have a hospital appointment in the afternoon. Hopefully see you all there about 8.00-9.00pm

Apologies to Russ for not joining the sensible road ride on Saturday.

Instead I joined in with Bob 'n' Tony's alternative route to Barmouth. Seven of us left camp on 4 @, XTZ 1200, KTM Adventure & Bob's gorgeous DR650.

A ride that lasted 8hr 56mins, over 171 mls at an average speed of 22 mph upto 1744 feet above sea level and down to about 10 when crossing the Barmouth Estuary Bridge (priceless).

Passing thro Newtown, Machynlleth for Elevenses, Tywyn, Barmouth for chips, returning via Lake Bala, Lake Vymwy for afternoon coffee, Welshpool, Churchstoke for phone signal.

This is a link to the route we took if anyone is interested http://my.viewranger.com/track/details/MTExMzI1Ng==

A seriously enjoyable day for me and I'm sure everyone, thanks Tony / Bob for route planning & saving me drowning in the puddle of mud I fell in.

Apologies from me also Russ, But I gotta tell you I had a whale of a time. Gnarly tracks, fallen trees,( thank you God !!!! ;) ) really tested the bikes and riders, absolutely spot on.No major incidents to speak of

Many many thanks Tone and Bob for making it a great day out, wouldn't have missed it for the world
Big thanks to Len also for leading the way back on the tarred roads ( more like back home :cool2: ) and of course to all the guys for the general good craic. Made a cracking ride out, one of the best I've been on for sure :thumbsupanim:

Isn't that a foot bridge? :D

As well, when it was a toll bridge motorcycles are listed and were 40p. Luckily no one there to collect the money, but wouldn't like to argue the point.
