8th Welsh Invasion. Final post

Haha - I posted in the wrong thread - so here it is again ...

After a 7 1/2 hour ride in the rain I am somewhat cold and soggy (need to invest in some sturdy waterproof trousers) but happy with my weekend adventure and home safe!

Adding my big thanks also to Richie B for finding an excellent venue and to Mike for organising the event. Thanks also to Chris for cooking a lovely stew Friday night and Sharrie and Caitlin for the breakfasts and chilli (superb as always). Great ride out and great company - thanks to everyone!

It was great to meet up with friends again and a pleasure making new friends (Fiona). Hope to are you all again at the next Big Traillie event

Excellent collection of photos above. Will add a few of my own later when I've sorted out the good ones :)

Many thanks again to everyone

Xxx

It looks like I'm having a pee on the sideboard in the back there. Actually I was reading the RAF magazines and reports.

We had a classic ride up A40 too Llangadog left over the snowy Black mountain too Brynamman right down to Ystradgynlias and on to coffee at the ancient Briton, on ward to Taffan y Garreg. Left on the Trecastle road, usk reservoir mountain road, right to Myddfi and my near death experience. Llandovery, llanwda, lansawel, Brecfa, Horeb, carmathen and home. Great day out good friends.
You'd better beware the Beast of Brechfa
I was singing this to myself on the ride.

I got home today at around 2pm, really must get a faster bike ;) . Just like to say a big thank you to Ritchie, Mikey, and all the others involved in what was a fantastic weekend. Great venue, great food and great company. Stuart, your wee tour was just great fun. :D Finally, a big thanks you to Austin and his good lady for putting me up (or should that be putting up with me?) on Thursday and sunday. :)

No lame excuses next year Bob  .........we've already got your place booked...................how ya doin' fella?

I fully intend to be there Russ. I'm doing ok, not allowed to move for a week but hopefully I can get on my crutches next week. Probably be about 3/4 months before I can get back on a bike. :sidecar:

Hi Folks,

Thought i'd just post some correspondence between Marty (Camp Commandant) and me today for your info:

----------------------------------

Hi Martyn,

Just wanted to say a big thanks for letting us use the facilities over the weekend. Over and above expectations - the guys and girls were very impressed and grateful. I hope we have left everything in good order.

I had a ‘whip around’ the proceedings of which have been posted with the keys and the cards down the pipe with the fuel cap. Please put towards a charity of your choice or whatever you see fit.

Thanks again, much appreciated.

Regards,

Richie

P.S. The gate worked fine throughout the weekend!
---------------------------------------------------------

Morning Richie,

Thanks for your very kind comments and your generous donation, we will put that to good use with part going to a charity (Cancer Research) and the remainder going towards a few welfare upgrades. Very pleased that you had a good weekend, you are welcome any time. As long as we are able to keep our bookings local and under the radar of the dreaded BAMS we should be able to offer the facility again.

Once again thank you for leaving the place in excellent order and for the extremely kind donation.

Kind Regards

Marty

The picture of the lady on the big blue thing - 1000lb of high explosives just waiting for that little knock to set it off . . . . . . . and then there's the bomb :thumbsupanim:

That picture of Andy just goes to show how you can just let yerself go once you retire :thumbsupanim:
Moody fecker, aint he, trying to perfect that Steve Mcqueer look ;)

But then again, retirement doesn't seem to have the same effect on Austin! Must be that Lancashire air.

Great photo's DC, especially that B&W of the moody git

Hardly a fair comparison Mr T, Austin is a huge amount of years younger than me. :) As for the moody git bit, if you had DC sticking a camera lens in your face for ages you would look a bit moody too. Anyway, everyone knows I am a grumpy auld man, it says so on the T shirt. As it happens, I actually like some of the pictures that Russ took of me, shows an eye for detail, and, of course, a good subject. :D

Andy.

I am liking the "huge amount of years younger" bit. :). Although I know I will be feeling very pleased with myself if I am biking, boozin' and camping with people 15-20 years younger than me when I reach Andy's age ;)
