quick blast out this afternoon as the sun was shining and the temperatures positive...
first bit of dirt for tigrou and I together
I've posted loads of pics of these things on various forums before, but here's one I'd not found before.
"reseau Jean Marie BUCKMASTER" would have been the name of their resistance network
Their leader, Henri FRAGER, known as "commandant PAUL" was
"shot 5th october '44 at Buchenwald"
the stone is in his memory, and to those of his comrades killed during the fight for liberation.
This is, as usual, at a crossroads of two small cross country single lane roads, in the middle of nowhere, and yet obviously regularly cleaned and maintained.
I nearly always stop at these things, read the names and thank them for their sacrifce, which allow me to do what I do today.
