Working as a volunteer in a Mountain rescue team is quite often tiring, wet and sometimes dangerous, but sometimes it gives you an open gate pass for riding in some restricted areas around South Wales, to day was one of them days.
I was asked to manage and plan the safety cover for 750 hard core runners competing in the annual Beast Y Bryn race starting and finishing in Bryn above Maesteg , the route is a fig course taking in the Margam, Bryn and Afon Argoed forests. Real crappy system of forest tracks with some good drop offs and inclines. Whilst Mikey ran the comms and control area, Sharrie manned a check point. I was free to supervise the rest of the team and course.
