Well after committing myself to Tony's Tuscany jaunt ( The Italian Job) next May, I will need a bike !!.

Its a fair old ride so comfort is a must (I'm a pensioner now you know lol).

Aprilia Tuareg is bloomin gorgeous but , as yet, untested in its longevity.
Bmw F800Gs bored me last time i had one
Bmw Gs1200 Too Big ??.
Africa Twin has never flopped my mop really.
Yamaha T7's looks like a razor blade and I still value my gentlemans vegetables !

Give me some suggestions please guys ??.

BOF (Boring Old Farts) bike = NC750.

My current plan - plans can change, so don't hold me to this, is that the NC is supporting my arse for the journey to & from Italy.

Reasons -

1 - its comfy enough for 300+ mile days
2- it sips fuel
3 - it holds all my camping stuff

Not an off road bike, but it can do a forest fire road no bother.

Whatever you get Stan, you know you'll be having fun in the sun :motorcycle:

What you need is a multistrada I’ve got a 950s and love it. Is capable of 60mpg, real world average 50/55. real hooligan when you scrag it but just as capable of a quiet relaxed ride. Wouldn’t recommend the side cases though.

Steve T,

I must admit I had not thought of the NC750. I think after so many years of 990adv/BMW GS we are brainwashed into the ADV bike mentality but the truth is any bike can take you on an adventure lol.

Hmm, Do you like the NC ?. Manual or DCT ( Bearing in mind my knees are really knackered now .....)

I owned a TDM900 recently and it was brilliant.......apart from the fuel injection which was atrocious. It ruined a superb bike.

My NC is a manual, but the soup spiller ran a DCT for over 70k miles and he rated it, as do I mine.

Give it a good test ride if you can. It won't shine in any one area, except fuel sipping, but it'll do most anything you ask of it (within reason of course :ridebumps:). Be prepared to be under-whelmed! Some say it takes time to "get" the NC, but I liked it from the off.
I only tried the one I've got because it was local and I'd not ridden one but I'd had the 700 version a good while ago so thought it would be nice to compare. The 270 degree crank gives the engine a distinct "feel/character" That plus the fact I'd just (like, 2 hours previously) sold my CB5X, so the cash was tingling in my pocket

NICE (if you like orange:whistle: )

Those 1050s are so underated. You'll love is Stan (you prbably already do ;))

A local fella got a 16 plate years ago and did an around Britain ride on it. No problems and it wasn't that hard on fuel either.

I looked at them recently and was suprised how well they are holding their value.

Take it easy and we'll see you on it in May :respect13:
