Desert Lake Road

For Austin and Anne in particular: a few gratuitous moments along Desert Lake Road. This is one of the local roads they rode with me while killing time in Eastern Ontario before their return flight to the UK. It's not great video, but it gives you a bit of the flavour of my back yard.

Thanks for bringing back some great memories. I well remember the road; a showcase for motorcycling in Ontario. :thumbsupanim: Here's a pic from where you stopped in the vid at about 4.40.

2months after getting back to the uk and a couple of thousand miles and I managed to ride off on the wrong side of the road today. I stopped to look at the view from Jeffrey Hill on the right hand side and pulled off keeping right, albeit slowly as I was still looking at the view. It wasn't until a car came the other way and gave me a filthy look as he went past that I realised it was me in the wrong. Luckily it was a very quiet road. Anyway I blame the video as I was looking at it just before I went out.

Jeez - you have to watch that Austin. I know it can be very disconcerting. I still have the occasional brain-fart, especially when joining larger roads after being on single-track roads. 'Now- which side do I ride on?'.....

Stay safe

Thoroughly enjoyed that, thank you but it would never make it onto Henry Coles Greatest Motorcycle roads because it's got too many bends :thumbsupanim:

At risk of boring everyone, here's the same road in spring. The main problem is choosing a line to avoid the drifts of sand left after the winter's snow - and the traffic, of course  .
About 11 minutes - and a bit shaky. I called it the 'Tail of the Beaver' since it's our flat, denatured local version of the 'Dragon'.
