Hello :)

Hi, I saw a link to here on the XRV chat scroller, although I'm sure I've seen these boards mentioned in posts both there and on ABR.

I'm a relative newb on those sites, and erm, obviously a total newb on here ;)

I'm seeing a few familiar names on here, so 'Hi' to those that I've posted with before, and to those that I haven't as well!

Rode bikes pretty much non-stop for 15 years when I was younger, then pretty much not at all for the next 15. Inherited an RD04 Africa Twin last year which wasn't in the best shape, with the intention of putting it back on the road for this summer, which happened about 6 weeks ago (summer, and the MOT I mean :) ). Probably annoyed the hell out of the regs on XRV with obscure questions non-stop whilst restoring it, hopefully now I'll be more posting pics of the world outside of my garage!

Anyway, Hi again, ride safe all :)

Enjoy the new forum, some of the same name as you rightly note.

Very nice bike to inherit .......

Thanks Alba, it was a stalled project that had been in a garden shed for a couple of years and it's been (mostly!) a pleasure to restore to road-worthiness :)

I'm good thanks mate. Yeah I'm on here as well as ABR. Most of the time I'm on XRV though. Hope the bike is well and you're fine and dandy? :thumbsupanim:

Good here thanks mate, bike had a bit of a blip a couple of weeks ago when the original Reg Rec fried itself, and battery along with it but to be honest it sort of forced me into fitting a new Shindengen MOSFET one which, knowing what I'm like, I either would have put off doing or foregone altogether even though it's pretty much the received wisdom to sort that potential prob out as soon as!

Hope you're enjoying the sun Loggy, too early I guess to say that we'll have a summer like last year but we live in hope eh mate

Thanks Loggy :)

Mobile phone camera pics make bikes look better, and I've read that in several places! Mine's showing some wear from 23 years but just some minor mascara-smears and lippy smudge really I guess ;)

Have you done any long trips since Cornwall mate? You posted some great pics from that trip :)

Really nice looking twin mate, yet another builder on the forum. Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the welcome XS904 :)

I'm working on getting the mechanical bits mechanically sound mostly, but the cosmetics have happened where the rust had et in! Around the frame, and some on the tank got wire-wheeled back, primed and sprayed, and also looked quite good after as well ;)

I guess, about 500 to 750 miles so far Lulu, not quite sure as I didn't get the speedo working for the first couple of weeks as, erm, it's not actually an MOT fail legally and I spent the money on brake pads ;)

Out for a spin to Shotley Marina today, where the HMS Ganges Royal Navy training camp used to be, just over the water from Harwich port :)

TB,

No mate. Well I did do the Cotswolds with my mate Dave (who is the one who lives in Cornwall) two weeks ago. His Brother has an RD04 in the same colours as yours. I see you are teasing me again with more pictures of your bike... :D

Thanks. Only posted a few pictures really. I would rather ride than keep stopping taking pictures every 5 mins, but when you get the good photo opportunitys then they must be taken. ;)

I might be heading over to Colchester sometime soon mate. I'm at Braintree sometimes for work, but this time it might be for a reunion with my old 1 Squadron mates. Will have to meet up if I do? :thumbsupanim:

Know it mate! I usually pull in for a smoke then think 'Hmm, take a pic!' ;)

Give us a shout if you're over this side of the country mate, be good to cross the border into that Essex and see how the other 'alf live
