Russ,

Have you thought about bringing in a subscription that offers no more (or less) benefits than just registering free does?

That way if you want to subscribe and contribute then you can, if you don't want to (or can't afford too) then you don't but there's no difference.

This way the forum is still completely free but you can pay for it if you want too.

I wouldn't of course, because I'm a tight arse and your forum is crap... :D   :mockery22:

Which is why a donations button would probably work?, I'm not opposed to that idea

A donations button would be annonymous, if you pay to subscribe then you could have "Subscribed" under the forum name and then we'd know who is supporting the site. We can then badger the ones who don't. :D

There you go,now we found the ideal job for you

On UKgser if you don't subscribe your forum name appears in red so everybody knows who's subscribed without a label.

Just a thought

I wouldn't like to go that way. If people can afford and choose to help the forum financially then great. If not and they chose to help another way (simply by being part of the community would be enough for me) then that's also great. The knowledge that you yourself are contributing in what ever way you can should be reward enough.

I'd like to see this place as somewhere everyone is welcome and has equal standing regardless of the depth of their pockets.

I agree that there should be no way that contributors are identified and non-contributors singled out which would have the effect of driving newcomers away. However, contributors could receive certain additional benefits such as a free sticker and being able to place (non-trade) ads for selling bikes/kit/German beer whatever. Personally, I still favour a 'cap' at runs which do take time and effort to organise, it could be quite small, say £2 but would generate income. I do also agree with previous posts that Russ should be encouraged to come to a speedy decision on this since its so much easier to set up a policy when we are still a tiny organisation and anyone who joins thereafter does so on the basis of this is how Big Traillie is and this is how we work.

I have no idea. But when I moved into the house I'm in now my next door neighbour had lived in the same house that I had just sold.

So I did. I got some sort of tapatalk error the first time but wasn't quick enough to take the message in. I hadn't actually realised the post went through though.

Russ why a Trumpet XC sat on 12 in my local honda dealers. It could spread your balls even wider than the 800.
