Yes mate you are too right. 11am Wednesday I set off for Aberdeen. I was really looking forward to the journey as I've never been further North than Glasgow . Well I got there and all I can say is I took the wrong route. M6 Through the lake district, very few bikes and mostly BM's.
Across to Dundee (I don't mean to be rude here but) Cream buildings on the way in and cream buildings on the way out and every building seemed to look the same. Then on to Aberdeen and every building grey all the way in and all the way out, I had to follow a Megabus the last 20 miles as I couldn't see the road ahead for fog/mist.
All in all very few bikes over 540miles and as you say mostly BM's ? 17hrs of riding 3hrs of nap taking on the way back. When I got back I told my mate how disappointing Scotland had been. Apparently my route was not an indication of how wonderful Scotland is !
I just Googled Erskine bridge and did a few street views North of it. Just beautiful. You can stick that East coast though ! ( and yes I was expecting to get a coating of midges ? but none at all)
Only rain I hit was between Kendle / Penrith, and that was effin' biblical.
The fog before Aberdeen was nasty. Felt like entering a town at the end of time.
PS : I wouldn't mean to be be rude about Scotland
.......You want to hear me describe Watford
Now now Phil, you have been hankering to get a break up in the Cairngorms for a while, don't blame you, it's nice ish there, and that A9 sucks
But you can't beat a bit of Teuchter landscape to take your breath away, I know for I live here
Sorry Nick, know your aversion to the midge, but you can't have it all.
I mean, if we had perfect weather and no Midges, the Highlands would be over populated
A bit like Lundun, innit ?
Hope you are well matey
