the bike I was hoping to take to the National. Couldn't get it Mot'd in time as I'm rubbish at planning.

Had it a while but hardly used it as can't get it to tickover and the revs hang so very clunky/jolty gear changes.

Problem is to get to the carb just about everything has to come off, it's been cleaned numerous times to within an inch of its life. Needs new tyres and even if I sort it there is nowhere like green lanes up here to use it ;).

If I do get it running I may have to visit Phil in France and explore and fall off on French trails.

If anyone has any idea on KLXs let me know what the issue is!! Seems quite a common problem with cleaning the carb being the default answer!

Ooh yeah that carb is IN there.

Might even be worse than my old Dominator, that at least wriggled out between frame and cylinder head, though you'd still be taking off the side covers, seat, tank, and loosening the airbox.

This one looks like you have to take the entire airbox out...

They're quite a rare bike in UK, my mate used to have one. There are many carb problems associated with E10 petrol and bikes that stand for periods of time. The only proper way of cleaning a carb is to strip the jets etc out of it and put it all in an ultrasonic cleaner, then replace the o rings , seal etc.

I've been there plenty of times with carbs on DRZ400 , DR650 etc. If you're going to let the bike stand a while either drain it of fuel completely or use E5 and a fuel stabablizer while it's stored .

I always put E5 in my bike, even the car as the E10 feels to have a very slightly rough tickover. I did have the carb out and stripped it right back to all it's individual part and ultrasonically cleaned it. It's never run right since I got it :(

Some people fit a Mikuni TM40 as it's a better carb but I can't afford tbh. When its running it pulls really well, can't ride it in traffic though as its a 70/30 chance it will cut out at some point while the revs are all over the place!!

Jax Shack? Seen that reference before, what is it?

Edit: Just read another thread about Jax, guessing it's Phil In Frances place?

Don't think I have enough room under the tank after finding some dimensions. I think I may just try to get it running as well as I can and punt it on and get DR650.

Where did you get your TM40s from out of interest? Seems there isn't a Mikuni UK dealer list anywhere.
