TICK - another one!

I have a viewing on the '30 this morning I'll certainly be keeping the Alp (too many memories & good times and I've had my 3k moneys worth out of it!) but it's going on vacation to our static for the summer & be pressed into use back home when the salt & bad weather comes. Thats the plan anyway.
While they are similar type of thing, they are both what I like in a bike & it's early days but I can see the glee (new shape wee strom with Gladius engine) staying a while ;)

Not that you'll know the answer to this question just yet - but what's the pillion provision like?
A static trial this morning, V says the pillion seat is firm but nice & broad, seat to pegs feel similar to the Alp with plenty of front/rear space (although I am waiting on the top box mount so the 'box wasn't fitted) and the pillion handles are easy to grab, comfy & well located.
Hope that helps.

Another run out this morning. This is looking like the best bike I've ever had.

Hi Phil,

am I right in thinking that you had a test ride on the Honda NC700/750 ( I might be wrong), if so how does the Glee compare with it.

Hi Bob, yes, I did take an nc700's' out when the Crossrunner was getting a new shock under warranty (?), I was quite looking forward/intrigued to the experience & had full intentions of making full use of it for the rather chilly day, aiming for a day around the Derbyshire dales, as it turned out, I was bored of the bike before I got outside Manchester so rode it home & parked it in the garage until the CR was ready, not like me at all....
The NC engine was perky enough if perhaps lacking a bit at 80+. Even for a budget bike the suspension was on the shit side of cheap.
Of course, all opinions are just that but the nc just was not for me.
The DL, like the Transalp just works & works well as a package. A bit lighter, bit more performance (well quite a bit actually), comfy, planted through the bends but still agile, smoother/more responsive engine & quite a bit better economy than a (fettled) 650Alp.

I picked the vstrom up & the trip was 69.6mpg average over 760 running in miles, in the 160 miles or so mixed use in my hands its showing 66mpg, the fuelling is great & with perky responsiveness - it doesn't feel any slower than the Vara but without the kick up the arse but has nicer power delivery.
Only the mish mash, 'thrown in' routing of the electric harness spoils it a teeny bit.
As a relative budget allrounder, I'm smitten.

An oportunity arose for a run out today so thought I'd take advantage.

From home, I followed TomToms winding roads feature using rural town on a rough planned route as waypoints.

A lovely day, which took me via Slaidburn, High Bentham, Devils bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale for a brew, butty & natter then via Barbon, Dent/Dent station to Ribblesdale, Kirkby Stephen to Sedbergh, Devils Bridge again for another brew & a quick scoot home via motorway as V informed me that the car has a flat in a brand new tyre (fitted yesterday!) & it's in for mot tomoz...

Cracking day out, enjoying the bike, first fuel up was 15.2ltr for 220 miles so not too bad, that would give a comfy 260 mile range from the 20 l tank & a potential 300 miles with gentle use I reckon :)

The gearbox seems to be loosening up nicely too

Arrived home to the Givi top box mount so that'll help me take lots of useless clutter out too.

Phil,

I had a test ride on the NC750X today, I totally agree with your view, the engine is perky enough and riding position OK but the suspension is shite, it banged and crashed it's way through potholes and even through me offline at one time.

I had a sit on a glee in the showroom but the demonstrator was out so that's as far as I got, having said all that the ride back home on my KTM left me with the usual huge grin :D

I think anything would feel lacking after the katoom Bob.

It'll be interesting to know how you find the glee - if only to show that I'm not losing my marbles!
Loving mine - everything the Transalp could have been (on roads anyway) ;)
