Actually an unmodified ZXR400 can do that on a straight ;) (granted it wont do much more-143/4mph until a car pulled out ahead)

Sadly the behaviour you describe is familiar. Car drivers around here don't seem to look full stop let alone see bikes; the new trend seems to be looking left whilst pulling out of a side road to turn right.

Like speeding pedal cyclists? The father of one of my clerks was stopped for speeding down a country lane at 7am on a pedal cycle (40 in what sounded like a 50 zone). Scarily the police decided to park across the road, blocking two lanes, just around a bend. The chap his father was travelling...

are you buying it in Scotland or England? if the latter then English law treats payment of a debt on behalf of a third party as a gift and he will have no obligation to pay you back. GET IT IN WRITING FROM THE SELLER that he will regard you as having paid £3k to him and why
