This is a wise thing to do, as Whealie will attest. But when the modification consists of religious stickers on your car, I think that things have gone way too far.

Insurance row over vicar's Jesus Christ car stickers.

Now, the insurance company, Age UK, are denying that the threat to cancel the insurance is because of the religious tone of the stickers - so what is it then?

I know a religious type that had a sticker that said "God is for life not just christmas" on his car , kinda put me off christmas a bit i thought it was a retail celebration now not religious

Mmm, just took the dealer sticker off the back window and the tax disc holder off the windscreen, it was redundant anyway.

Ps they also found a cigarette lighter socket had been added in the boot.

Pps, just found a next service due sticker that tha garage stuck in the door jambe! And an MOT reminder sticker by the rear view mirrior.

If she'd has a normal sticker on her bumper or in her window that would be fine. What she has is like commercial branding (she's a Christian minister) and that is different.

My panel van insurance went up by putting branding on the side. The branding cost me £1000, or one sixth of the van purchase price. That means the replacement value of a write-off van is now the cost of the van and getting the branding done. The van may depreciate but getting the branding done again is likely to be more expensive.

The branding may also lead to acts of vandalism, so increases the risk of damage - particularly in the case of controversial branding.

Age UK is not a commercial vehicle insurer. It will insure you to use your vehicle to do your job but not to drive a branded commercial vehicle. It would be the same for one of those brightly painted little estate agent cars you see all the time.

Yep, I also had an issue with my " Rent-a-Gent, the experienced Male Escort " sticker stuck on the back window of many motors in Inverness without my knowledge. My mum was furious, she was inundated with phone calls

Absolutely true ( many years ago though ) ;)

Thanks for the reply Chris.

Bit curious though, but I do get your point about it being "branding".
