Yep, 550 from Colchester and nearly 10 hours according to google maps.

Just had a quick look, I think it was Cumberlands Campsite Loch Ness that I stayed in before. Nice site and waling distance to a few pubs and a good fish and chip shop.

From the website it has been developed quite a lot since my visit about 3 years ago which may make it more suitable.

I had lots of rain when I was on the way there and during my stay but it was a really good trip - looking back :thumbsupanim:

Cheers,

Paul

We seem to be drifting further northwards

I thought the plan was to look in the borders to try and keep it more accessible for everyone

After much nosing around looking for a campsite that will take around 30 bikers, a catering van and someplace to have a fire being met with responses such as a sharp intake of breath, looks of shock, shaking of heads etc. I was beginning to get a bit worried. However, I reckon I have found somewhere that should be just the ticket. A campsite with a nice flat area, plenty of toilets/showers and the management even said they would remove an area of turf so we could have a fire. The price is £8.50 per tent per night and it is only a 10 minute walk to the town centre for cafes, pubs and shops with supermarkets also in easy reach.
Now the bad news, we can not get the usual first weekend in September so it would have to be the 26/27/28 August or the 16/17/18 September and, sorry, no catering vans allowed. :( Please let me know what you think as I will need to book pretty soon and if there are people coming with camper vans I will enquire about the price for them although rufty tufty bikers should not be needing them! ;)
The place I have in mind is Springwood Park in Kelso where the BMF rally used to be held, pretty central for the Scottish Border area, Edinburgh is 45 miles away, Carlisle 65 miles and Newcastle is 70 miles. Postcode is TD5 8LS if you want to look it up on Google Earth.

That sounds OK to me Andy, although the last national I managed to get to was in 2009 in Ullapool. Unless I am off adventuring somewhere I will redouble my efforts to get there.
