BMF Peterborough

The Zebra is sponsoring a slow race at the BMF May event in Peterborough. It looks like my plan for independent marshals from the IAM has fallen down (am asking RoSPA but as it has a smaller biker membership) so I may need a few bodies. More details when I know the exact plan but I should be able to offer a free weekend ticket to those who can help. If you might be up for holding a stop watch and disqualifying cheats, let me know.

At the May show, we will be using AJP 125 bikes supplied. The slowest person over the two days will win £100 cash prize. There is a £1 entry fee per go but all the money raised goes to the National Association of Bikers with a Disability.

The idea is to then run local competitions throughout the country with people riding their own bikes on the same lay-out course (Z-shaped, naturally  ). This will lead to a national online list of the slowest time by bike, so you can see how you compare with others on the same bike.

We will then get ten finalists to the BMF Tailend show in Peterborough late September for a grand show down. The slowest rider will win £500 in cash from me. I'm hoping that, with lots of people having more than one go, NABD should get a good boost to its coffers.

May 17-18 for the first show.

Tailend: September 13-14

Maybe the BIg Traillee can be my official independent marshals? I need to put together an advert for the programme and get some banners made up and leaflets.

Plenty of room on my stand at May and September. I am also at Kelso 5-6 July and have a smaller, indoor slot there.

Well in that case I''ll make a point of coming down. It will be good to catch up.

I'm going in May but I'll be with the GS club.
That's the mountain rescuer in you - going to to befriend people left all alone with no mates.

Are you living it up or camping?

Camping, probably behind our plot, unless that is too noisy/ chavvy.

OK - who can make it to help out? The competition will run over the two days. Finishing time on Sunday will will be flexible depending on the weather, crowds etc. You can arrive Friday. Passes will include full camping etc. Locals can come in for the day only if you prefer - but the evening entertainment is something to behold (Alvin Stardust was headline at the Tailend meet last year).

I really need enough helpers to do shifts so you get time to visit the rest of the show, have breaks etc. You'll be taking the £1 entry fee from competitors, timing them and disqualifying any who cross the border lines or put their feet own. You'll keep a record of the riders and their times and update a leader board. It should be a lot of fun.

I'll get some stewards T-shirts for you and try to make sure you're looked after, not worked too hard and I'll cover your petrol money too.

Here's details of the show: http://www.thebmfshow.co.uk/the-shows/b ... ycle-show/

I'm hiding behind you though if one of the nutters that go there kick off :idea-013:

Camp and stay the weekend MPJ. You'll love it. It will give you so much ammunition for all your prejudices.

Chris bit of a cheeky request. Have you got room for me to park my tent by your stand? If you have I'll help out for a couple of hours with your competition.

I could be persuaded, I have your app on my iPad. I have no other plans at the moment. Let me know.
