The Zebra is sponsoring a slow race at the BMF May event in Peterborough. It looks like my plan for independent marshals from the IAM has fallen down (am asking RoSPA but as it has a smaller biker membership) so I may need a few bodies. More details when I know the exact plan but I should be able to offer a free weekend ticket to those who can help. If you might be up for holding a stop watch and disqualifying cheats, let me know.
At the May show, we will be using AJP 125 bikes supplied. The slowest person over the two days will win £100 cash prize. There is a £1 entry fee per go but all the money raised goes to the National Association of Bikers with a Disability.
The idea is to then run local competitions throughout the country with people riding their own bikes on the same lay-out course (Z-shaped, naturally ). This will lead to a national online list of the slowest time by bike, so you can see how you compare with others on the same bike.
We will then get ten finalists to the BMF Tailend show in Peterborough late September for a grand show down. The slowest rider will win £500 in cash from me. I'm hoping that, with lots of people having more than one go, NABD should get a good boost to its coffers.
