Leading on from Part Two -
So, after the run down to Loiusburgh and then back onto the R335 for the run Into Westport for some lunch, I start to head home.
There's a very small road that's heads off the N59 and into the hills. It takes you through the Partry Hills and then down to Toormakeady and gives a fine view from the top of Lough Mask -
Considering all the hills that have dominated the view so far, the view east over Lough Mask and into County Mayo shows you how damn flat it is - quite a contrast. Oh, and from this point it is fun to coast down the other side - I only got up to 40 mph or so.
And one last pic a few miles from home - nothing in my mirrors but blue sky -
So, not a bad day out at all really. The tourist season hasn't really got going again so there were very few clueless grockles in hire cars and I only came across one tour bus, and that was on the N59 main road. The only traffic of note that I came across on the minor roads was a very large tractor pulling a muck spreader and horse box, and the driver very kindly pulled over when he was able.
I could have taken loads more photos, but once you've seen one lake mirroring the clear blue sky you've seen them all, right?
Covered a shade over 200 miles. Left the house just after 7:30 and got back just about 3:30 - roughly 8 hours. This does include stopping to take pics, have a brew, have lunch and stopping several times for the damn sheep to get out of the way. Average speed of a touch over 25 mph. But that's not the point, is it?
