Cree Motorcycle Spot Lights - much cop?

My spotlights have become rather temperamental of late so thought I would replace them. As money is fairly tight, and I don’t fancy mortgaging my house in order to afford a set of BMW or Touratech ones, I thought I would give the £20 Cree ones a shot that you see all over eBay. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If they turn out to be utter crap then it’s only £20...

Anyone have any comments or experience with these? Once they arrive and are fitted I’ll let you know how I get on.

I've had good results with the 'standard' 3 or 4 led ones from 24x7diy.com. Bit more than 20 quid, depending on how bright you want them. Had a set of 1500 lm ones hooked up to the main beam for 5 years now and they've been fine, it took a Fiat 500 to do one of 'em in... At 20 quid for the pair it's no great loss to take a gamble, though a gamble it will be.

Yea I put a set on this year. One rattled itself apart on the way to the national so that needs re soldering and for some odd reason they have a strobe setting which is a pain you have to check it's not strobing every time you switch them on. On the bright side they are bright. Well ya pays ya money ya take ya chance

One of mine loosens itself so is now held tight by a cable tie. It's a design fault as they have used a bolt and threaded rod instead of a bolt to fix yhe bidy to the clamp. Will sort something better out when I can be bothered to go into the workshop. They have three settings which you cycle through by turning them on then off and back on - low, high, strobe.

Any tips on the current crop of good cheap stuff for tight fisted Dutchmen?

These are the one's I bought, cheap at around £35 and they seem pretty bullet-proof.

Handy for me - one bolt fitting into an existing mount. They seem bright although not tried at night yet. Will need to keep an eye on battery drain too, although the ad says it won't be a problem.
