Don't try to stop your bike if it starts to fall

Just out for a little ride in eastern Quebec on my 750s Guzzi. Stopped for a quick rest. Put the kickstand down (not completely). Bike started to fall towards a parked Harley. I tried to stop it. My hamstring said NOOOO. I said OWWW.
Then I had to ride 400kms home. Fortunately, no permanent damage (I hope), but pretty!

Ouch

Did that a few weeks back with my fully loaded GS when the side stand sank into the mud

Fortunately I was already off the bike at the time but it still hurt for a few days and nowhere near as nasty as that

Hope you heal fast Nick

Oooh, that looks sore. Easily done as instinctive reactions far faster than rational thought. 400kms? so you had just gone out for a short ride then.

How is the bike - the Guzzi, not the Harley. It's nice is that 750s.

Both bikes were undamaged. The Harley was untouched. Getting the bike back on its wheels was a triumph of technique over strength.
The leg is more spectacular than painful although the initial tear wasn't fun and it has been sore for a few days now. I'll be back riding over the weekend (Quota). Perhaps I'll have some fall pictures for you.

I thought you already had done?

Ah, of course, you mean "autumn" pictures.

Mind you, a serious of pictures over the next few days to show the colour changes of your bruise would be interesting............

Ouch...That will take a few months ! if not a year to get better...I did very very very similar swinging a log maul axe while chopping logs...Medical people were concerned about blood clots from it moving up north to cause a heart attack or a stroke...I was ordered on 75mg of asprin a day while it cleared up bruise wise for a few weeks...all took about two bloody years overall. This was six year ago ! and I still have a tight leg after loads of continuous stretching...Best of luck.....PS.....I still have the old XL600v Transalp...running very well, and in better nick than I am !

I braved a bit of riding this weekend - about 150kms yesterday and over 250 kms today. Fortunately the narrow seat on the Quota doesn't press in sensitive places and the riding was fine. Leaves are gradually turning but haven't reached their full glory yet. As promised a gory update, and a few pictures from this weekend.
