Just noticed this forum is missing the never ending what tyres are best thread. Not a technical discussion based empirical evidence, no no, just our misguided opinions base on the three sets of tyres we've only had experience with
The reason I mention this I manged to get stuck on a muddy trail today on a set of Michelin Anakee 3's. Nothing to outrageous there, except I was on an almost flat bit of track!!! The rear wheel would just spin whilst no movement of the bike. Needless to say after 100 metres of trail I managed to get the bike facing the other way, headed back and just stuck to tarmac.
To be fair it was VERY muddy and it' really a road tyre, however I'm sure my old Anakee 2's were better.
However on tarmac, wet or dry they have been brilliant.
What I'm looking for is the road grip of the Anakee 3, the off road grip of a full on MX tyre, at least 10K miles and all for 40 quid!
.....actually what I really do is swap tyres. I hadn't set out with the intention of a trail ride today I just passed a Byway sign and couldn't resist.
