Unable to attend unfortunately Austin, previous family commitments already booked in my diary.

Never mind Stubbsie, as you say perhaps in January. What is the medals bit?

Just a heads up that this is probably NOT going ahead on the 22nd: the weather oop north is forecast to be particularly bad (weather warnings for wind and lots and lots of rain). I have left in the hands of of SteveR and others over on XRV to reschedule but the 23rd looks favourable or a date between christmas and new year http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/meet-ups-r ... ost1159466

As ever with the gentlemen who lunch, organisation is not our strong point and this is now back on. There's a could of us meeting at Lymm service at 10.30. Roaches cafe at 12 ish for Christmas style lunch - turkey sandwiches anyone.

Well that was a good day out and the predicted stormy tempest consisted of a couple of brief showers and a stiff breeze.

Just me, Paul Bimbler and PhilH at Lymm services and for the rest of the day. Phil said he would set his Sat Nav on winding roads. Muddy roads more like. Anyway what followed was a very nice run down small muddy roads through Cheshire and north Staffs avoiding the Metropolises of Macclesfield and Congelton, passing near Jodrell Bank, before climbing onto the foothills of the Peak District and "the Roaches". The cafe has brilliant views over Tittlesworth Reservoir and beyond to the Cheshire Plain. Phil and i had roast turkey with all the trimmings, Paul had Staffordshire Oat cakes with bacon and egg. We chatted, put the world to rights, and stared at the view and a couple of squally showers for over two hours. A very nice way to spend the afternoon. My bill for turkey dinner, coffee and a humingous piece of Xmas cake was £11.50. Can't be bad.

We went our separate ways home - Paul had to pick something up in Manchrster, Phil wanted to put his destiny in the hands of a TomTom again and follow more Winding Roads, and I wanted to call into the Wincle brewery to pick up beer. Of course I also had to have a small sample.

I had the first proper rain of the trip in Macclesfield for about 10minutes but the rest of the journey was bone dry. :).

Great day out chaps, many more to be planned.

Looks like a nice day was had, bit far for me though. ;)

John, it's time you changed the list of bikes in your signature now that you have a proper tractor.
