Green lane maintenance

Yesterday I took a few guys out on a nice trip around south and mid Wales doing so lanes. On my little tour I noticed several of the lanes looked as tho they had A few love touches with a JCB, some gates had been removed and fitted with cattle grids and sections of the lanes had been resurfaced to protect the lanes for future rides.

The lanes I done started in Bryn down to Pontrydyfen, Tonmawr to knoll, Sarn Helen from colbren too brecon Strata Florida and back via Teifi pools and Elan valley.

We came across three New KTMs an old Yam Asking for directions for a garage in the middle of Strata Floria to look for some epoxy resin to repair a holed sump on their mates Honda Valerderro. I directed them to the nearest garage some twenty miles away and advised them the quickest way to get off Strata floria pushing and towing the stricken Honda.

My ride for the day was a second seat in a tricked out Landrover followed buy two ducklings following behind.

Sorry no bikes but my mountain bike was strapped to the roof of my ride.

The stream at Sarn Helen I see Jason. The pin in my leg happened a couple of hundred yards away back in 97 :( Interesting times for rights of way at the moment on Sarn Helen. I see the southern section is open in the summer. Saw a copper chasing some bikes on the section your on recently. RUPP, UCR? TRF members had a case against them dropped a couple of years back for riding Sarn Helen.

They have put the eccept for accesss road signs on the start and finish of Sarn helen. We had no visitures yesterday. But why was the copper chasing someone they are not aloud. The chasee might have been off the trail as there is lots of evidence on the lanes we did yesterday.

Never quite sure to what extent local authorities are responsible for maintaining Byways. In Wiltshire the authority takes this fairly seriously; almost no authorities in Wales do... until now, perhaps? Curious given how little finance they get from the Welsh Government these days.

And all three of us played with the bomb hole.

The two nineties worked well on the bomb hole but the one ten with two inch lift and 230BHP td5 with dual mapping Ecu software with variable blade turbo, just ate the thing and any thing else in front of the bumper.

Just allowed him out but only cause I got to laugh at his puncture on his bicycle when we were 10 miles from home.

I think he could here me chuckling for quite a way down the cycle track as I left him walking his way home.
