In by the law

Took my wee DR350 in for MOT yesterday, passed Mr Plod car parked at the side of the road on the A96.
Went in to buy some petrol, bike booked in for 10 am, so plenty of time. Filled up at the pump, just about to set off when up pops said bobby, wound his window down.
I still had my helmet on, so took it off and I think he was pleased to see an " elder " gentleman under the lid than a young yoof.
Anyways, after a considerable time trying to get my ear plugs out, ventured over to said bobby.

" You the owner ? "
"Yep, just heading to the mot, booked in at 10, insured the bike last Tuesday "

He poodled about with something on his screen

" That's fine mate, good luck with the mot !! "

And off he went, what a nice chap. :cool2:

After mot, on way home, saw same bobby parked at the side of the road, gave him a toot of the horn and a thumbs up. He responded with a big cheesy grin and a similar thumbs up

Just goes to show, the system works, I could so easily have been a thieving scumbag.
Well done Mr Plod I say, doing a good job and courteous as well.

Well done Mr Plod. Now that you have an MOT on the wee beastie it's about time we saw some photos of you riding it on all those 'secret' trails you've got up there :thumbsupanim:

Good to see that Police Biker relations are at an all time high in the Highlands.
Looking forward to my trip there in June.

I remember my English teacher making me write an essay on Why Manners are Important :)
Did the teacher single you out for that particular task? And if so, why? :D

Cops aint ALL bad ! I was a traffic cop for 28 yrs, I remember one lovely sunny morning in June, must have been in the early 80's, I was a Motorway cop in those days, working the M6, M56 and M62 in Cheshire. Anyway, it was TT fortnight and there were loads of bikes heading up to Liverpool and Heysham for the crossing to the island. This particular morning, it was a Sunday and I was on 6 am to 2 pm shift, Motor manufacturers used to send us their performance cars to test drive (hoping we would buy a whole fleet) and we had this gorgeous black Saab 900 turbo to test, no Police markings, just a communications radio plugged into the cigar lighter so they could contact us. I joined the motorway at junct 18, and as I was accelerating to join on the access slip a group of bikers shot through at waaaaay above the 70 limit, I accelerated after them and in a few miles caught up and started to pace them, speedo was NOT certified as in normal cop cars which carry a certificate of correctness so I knew it was not possible to prosecute anyone for speeding, it was reading around 110 mph and I pulled alongside the rearmost bike, a German on a sporty Kawasaki in the middle lane , chin on tank and completely unaware I was there, suddenly he must have caught a glimpse of my car alongside and looked over, he must have thought, "want a race mate" and accelerated, he then took a second glance and must have spotted the uniform and white traffic cap......I have never seen a look on anyones face like that before or since as he slowed down so rapidly and shot to the hard shoulder and pulled up, as I walked towards him he already had his licence, passport and papers out, helmet off and a look of, Oh shit, done it now!! After a quick word in his ear about his speed his look changed as he realised he was not being booked, big smile and , sorry officer, I wont do it again  and I left him re helmeting and thanking his luck, for my money 110 mph on an empty motorway at 6am on a sunny sunday morning wasnt dangerous......but I was a biker too and other cops might not have been so lenient, so as I say, cops aint all bad.
