That's what they said, but the bloke who came here yesterday could not fathom it. I am going to take the bike to Birmingham for a tech guy to look at it.
I put smaller indicators on the back of my @ simply so the panniers would go on. They are normal bulbs, not LEDs and are all e-marked properly. They were about £12 from Hein Gericke and work well. I don't see the need for anything else. The from still has the originals - big, bright and able to be seen.
I've seen some strange results before with bad high resistance earths where the either the earth was being supplemented through say another switched off / idle circuit or even just the combined current flow through a dodgy earth which caused its resistance to rise with current passed through it. Almost like a thermistor (or is that a barrettor)
Try measuring the actual voltage as near the indicators as you can with light on and off as well as engine on and off
