...........I hope that wasn't your only criteria for moving house

No Bob, handy for work (north Bristol) and the 6-times-a-month Heathrow run. Also family live in the Cotswolds. You can't hear the motorway from the house and it's very rural :)

Looks like you've found somewhere that works for you plus you're very close to us now and handily placed for a ride up the Fosseway :thumbsupanim:

We are going to Takoda campsite in Kirkby Lonsdale, but in view of the absolutely SHITE weather for Saturday and Saturday night we are going up Sunday afternoon and leaving after lunch on Monday. If anyone fancies joining us your are welcome.

Say hello to Paul for us

Sounds like he's struggling on with things

Austin, you might have better luck going to Kirkby STEPHEN for Takoda :)

Dunno what has happened in Pauls life but hope he's coping ok with things.

Not sure, but the post that mentioned the ABR Boil rally at Takoda being cancelled also mentioned that the site was shut till further notice!

Has am anyone heard if it's actually open?

The site is definitely open until Sept and then Paul is assessing things

Phew, I had forgotten about something being "up" at Takoda. The website is still up and running so I am hoping all is OK. Of not we will find somewhere nearby.

We've arranged a substitute rally at Haggs Bank near Alston next weekend for the same dates Thurs 7th through Sunday 10th

Danny who owns Haggs Bank has ok'd it with Paul at Takoda as they are mates

So if you want a rally with the usual ABR crowd, communal fire, music in a marquee (via ipod), bbq cook outs and chilli, all the details are on ABR

We took enough deposits for Danny to get it off the ground so come and have a go if you think you're camp enough!

Well that was a very pleasant trip and mostly dry too :). The campsite is definitely open but there was us and two others there which seemed very quiet for a bank holiday but suspect the weather put most people off. We didn't see Paul at all so still none the wiser about what's up.
The White Lion is still selling beer for £2 per pint and the Coast to Coast chippy did eat in fish chips peas and tea for two for under £10.

And best of all, in preparation for our forthcoming trip to canada, we now know we can comfortably pack the bike with camping stuff and everything else we need. :)

Danny tells me Paul is working as a Highways officer so he may have been on a shift
That would explain hearing a car start up and leave the site at 5am.

I think we saw Paul in KS as we arrived and his car was at the campsite, but no Paul or Maria around the site at all - we paid the kids.
