Maybe they were right ...

...about BMW riders after all. Took Morag in for a service today to Pidcock BMW in Long Eaton. Whilst booking her in I made small talk with the service reception guy. Asked him if they were busy. He said no, they'd had a lot of cancellations today. Folk who had looked out of the window, seen the rain and wind, and pulled out! This in a showroom full of rufty tufty adventure bikes! Even I, "nesh" as I may be, hadn't considered cancelling :rolleyes2:

It's been a lovely day here. A lot cooler and windier than yesterday though but still sunny pretty much all day.

That's just bikers in general isn't it... I kinda doubt the sportbike and cruiser crowd are more weatherproof. ;)

It is funny though. Rock up at the dealers on a sunny saturday and the place is rammed. Bit overcast and things are a lot more quiet. Actual rain and you might well think you've went on a sunday instead! So a bit of drizzle is usually perfect weather for visiting the dealers, just to avoid all the talkers. :D

Well I understand that folk may decide against going out for a pleasure ride on the grounds of bad weather, but i was surprised at the way these folk had pulled out of a pre-arranged business arrangement on the grounds of some less than ideal weather. Yes, I'd have cancelled if it was icy but a bit of rain?!

maybe they think their skin is not waterproof and their blood will get watered down . Oh no i know they will not be able to write on the ad when they sell it ," only done 300 miles , never been out in rain , used on sunny days only " I:E i may get the bike and my immaculate off road clothing wet if i go out in the rain and have to clean them

Granted I'm not about to go for a pleasure ride if it's tipping down, but indeed service appointments are another matter.

It is sort of ironic, the typical BMW "uniform" being Gore-Tex... The sport and cruiser leather-crowds at least have some sort of excuse. :D

The biggest boggle to me is adv-type people who bring a bike cover when going camping.

I have seen two Beemer riders with a big ass garage tent they shared and a big ass "2 room" tent they also shared... I hope the garage was used as a seating or cooking area, but I fear not! Still, they seemed a cheerful pair of blokes, and that is the main thing, they were having a "wife free" few days....

Bloody typical, hate that. Just damn bad manners not to turn up. Ok as lulu says, if it had been dodgy to the point of being dangerous, then ok.

People like this really p1ss me off. No wonder bike shops are going out of business.

Rant over, thanks for posting lu  :D
