The Mountie and me took our latest toys out for a spin yesterday, cos the weather was ace and we could.
Destination- Linn O Dee, up a small road west of Braemar. Took a different route there, led by the Mounite, that saw us popping out onto the A93 just east of Ballater.
Not being able to find a seat to sit in, sip coffee and watch the world walk by in the local cafes that surrounded the village square, we pressed onto Braemar – only to find it heaving with tourists and sports bikes
We rode through the village and up into the hills, finally stopping at the Linn O Dee itself.
Here we see the Mountie contemplating where the penny is that he dropped into the river several years ago, when he used to work this area as his beat when a member of Grampian Police
Our return towards Braemar saw a few diversions, with the Mountie sharing his local knowledge of all the little off route tracks that he used to chase villains up. That’s him rolling his “new to him” 1200 GSA over slippy mud on Michelin PR3’s
Great ride over the Gairnshiel road to Corgarff followed, with sustenance and refreshments taken at a little café there abouts.
Refreshed and replenished, we rode over the Lecht in more glorious sunshine, through Tomintoul to Grantown on Spey, where we took the main road back towards Forres, at what can best be described as a “progressive” rate of knots
Back squiggly roads towards Elgin saw us both beaming like the idiots we are inside of our helmets, such was the fun factor just enjoyed.
