Ride through the Peak District

Unfortunately in the car for a 1pm meeting but the scenery is fantastic with the trees being green, rust and golden. Stopped in Moynash for a pint of tea and sausage butty and to post this.

Must get out on the bike this weekend to Jelly's or the east coast to get some autumn miles in

Amazin' !
I did the same thing this morning. Left London 05.30 for Haxby road in York. All sorted by 10.30 then went to a dealers in Wakefield to look at van for my dad, which was sold by the time I got there.

Finally had to meet up at the Youth Justice convention in Telford at 15.30. So I thought I'd have a look at the Peak district too !

Went via Bakewell and Leek, two towns I picked of the map as my NAV kept wanting to take me east down the Motorways.

Wow what a place.Very grey wet and misty, but magical. Anybody know this spot ? Not very clear pick it was like a massive jagged mini mountain.

Only one downside,I was in my Tranny :( ( upside,I kept stopping for a brew and a view !)

Saw this too. Think it is just after Longnor before the junction with the A53 (Leek to Buxton road) on the RHS

If I go to the Yonderman on Sunday I'm going to pootle about this area to look at some of the landmarks I saw today

Just before this spot there was another really big rock to the right( going south),with what looked like a mini Stonehenge halfway up. Was I seeing things in the mist ? Have a look would you. The stone walls round there (north of Bakewell ?) totally swamped the area too. Think of the time they must have taken to build and quarry.

!0pm and home now,boy am I gonna sleep ! (560 mile round trip) :D

It looks like the "The Roaches" to me. Some geological and geographical feature that in the dim and distant I knew more than I wanted to know about but have forgotten now.

Sent from my iPhone with a smile :)

Tell you what, the times I , ( and probably many others ? ) have been heading south past Wakefield and not known what magic lies just a few miles to the west. I've been driving round Londons West End all day thinking what peaceful place I was in yesterday. ( some of those little lanes were a bit tight in the Tranny though ! )
