Got up this morning, sun shining, 5degree temp, so I thought why not? Headed out to Jedburgh, over the Carter Bar then along some back roads ending up at the Riverside tea room at Chollerford for brekkie. That is when I saw the big spider, well actually the correct spelling is Spyder.......Can-Am that is.
Spoke to the owner who was very pleased with the beast. Seems that after a back injury he can not feel his feet very well so had to give up his GS for something that would not fall over if he misjudged his footing. The machine is very well equipped with power steering, heated grips and seat and huge luggage capacity and full stereo system, but it's not for me.
After a nice bacon roll and coffee I headed up to Keilder. No one there to talk to Billy no mates.
The lake was nice and calm and empty with the exception of another Billy no mates doing bit of sailing with what little wind there was.
From Keilder I went up to Newcastleton for another coffee and then down that nice twisty backroad to Hawick, stopping to look at some old railway stuff at Whitrope Heritage centre before heading home.
Temps ranged from 5 to 8 degrees throughout the day with a wee bit of drizzle near Jedburgh, but on the whole it was a pleasant 140 miles on almost deserted roads.
Andy.
