Got up this morning, sun shining, 5degree temp, so I thought why not? Headed out to Jedburgh, over the Carter Bar then along some back roads ending up at the Riverside tea room at Chollerford for brekkie. That is when I saw the big spider, well actually the correct spelling is Spyder.......Can-Am that is. :)

Spoke to the owner who was very pleased with the beast. Seems that after a back injury he can not feel his feet very well so had to give up his GS for something that would not fall over if he misjudged his footing. :eekicon: The machine is very well equipped with power steering, heated grips and seat and huge luggage capacity and full stereo system, but it's not for me.
After a nice bacon roll and coffee I headed up to Keilder. No one there to talk to Billy no mates.

The lake was nice and calm and empty with the exception of another Billy no mates doing bit of sailing with what little wind there was.

From Keilder I went up to Newcastleton for another coffee and then down that nice twisty backroad to Hawick, stopping to look at some old railway stuff at Whitrope Heritage centre before heading home.

Temps ranged from 5 to 8 degrees throughout the day with a wee bit of drizzle near Jedburgh, but on the whole it was a pleasant 140 miles on almost deserted roads. :)

I don't like spiders (or Spyders) but hat's off to the guy to find a way to keep going.

Though if I'm ever in a similar situation I think I'd sooner go for an mp3 than this hideous thing. Or just get a proper sidecar. ;)

When my brain was aching, trying to find a way back on the road a while back I looked into these (as well as the big Polaris 4x4 quad too) both with power steering and a sense of safety about 'em. But the fuel economy was the main problem as a mile eater.(as was the drive train of the 4x4). In the end I built the outfit, but the idea of a Spyder isn't yet dead in the ground. Sixty next year :( they may have developed a leaning (production) quad by then ?? :D

Let's face it.At some point we'll all have to knock it on the head, or get an extra wheel to keep going ? :rolleyes2:

Andy, you get some lovely rides in up there don't you !
