softly, softly...

nearly 3000km under my belt on the tiger since october but still far from being as "at ease" as i was on the tralp.

At the moment i'm putting this down to a combination of factors, the main one being that I rode the transalp in all conditions, both on and off road for 17 years ( so we'd pretty much got used to each other and I knew what i could do and how she'd react ...) which is obviously a major factor but also that the tiger is heavier, has twice the horsepower, a fairly different geomety and a very different engine.

I do remember that taking the transalp off the tarmac onto the trails and getting her sliding around a bit was a big confidence booster when I first got her, so I took the tiger on our first, very tentative, trail ride yesterday. no nobbly tyres of course, and still very wet underfoot so sfotly, softly... nice and easy

Interesting that you both consider the engine as peaky, I have ridden a 2011 several times and peaky is the last thing I'd use to describe it - silky smooth, glitch free and turbine like but certainly not peaky, am I missing something, or did later bikes get a bit peaky in the search for more hp?

Tad peaky, to my way of riding Phil, is that the bike needs more revs than I considered healthy when rolling around on loose stuff.

Not enough low down grunt for me - the power is too far up the rev range, in a place I don't really like to visit that often  being a luver of either V-twin or paralel twin grunt :D

Horses for course and all that
