Trangia gas conversion

I was camping over the weekend (some of the Scots sneaked over the wall  ) and came to the conclusion the meth's burner on the Trangia is slow and after a cool night did not want to light. So looking at gas conversions, came across these two what a difference in price option 1 or option 2

I too spotted those options and would also be keen to hear of any experiences. Although for £30 it must be worth a punt

I have a meths and gas Trangia. The meths came first and I had it a long time with no issues. Decided to get the gas adapter but at £55 realised I could get a brand new one for about £70 so that's what I opted to do. But I'd never buy the non-stick pans again.

From the photo of the cheaper gas connector, it looks like it does everything it should except for the Trangia name. I've not used a petrol stove but I've seen several flame throwers at campsites!

Option 1 young fella :D

The burner is a wee bit tricky to get in even with option 1, I would think that it maybe more of a kefuffle to get the option 2 in place with that sticky out thing at the bottom ( mind you depends on your alcohol content at time of entering ) :cool2:

True , I've had mine for years, always carry spare meths in the kettle in case the gas runs out , it never does.
I use the non stick frying pan with the normal pans, works a treat

I adopted my civil Trangia for use with gas burner some years ago.
A bought a complete secondhand Trangia set for £ 5 and bought the Trangia gas burner at a sale for £ 32.

Many professional hiking experts consider the Trangia as cheap, heavy, big and without finesse (A description also valid for me when I come to think about it...).
I find it to be faultless for the kind of touring and cooking that I do.

I'm not a fan of the non stick pans, since I have managed to ruin a set.
The original Trangia gas burner works just fine, I never had any issues with it.
However simmering takes some time to learn how to do, as it's difficult to adjust the flame accordingly.

The copy burner that you found is unknown to me, so I can not give you any feedback on that one.

Me too, well my daughter did. The coating simply burned off & it wasn't because they were empty. I wasn't impressed & returned to the standard uncoated version.
