Mentioned this to my daughter Steph. Her response? "Maybe it'll blow away!" She was talking about Ardnamurchan, having spent 2 summers there doing Geology, its not her favourite spot in Scotland :)

No hope for some folks...... :D

Mmmm, just had a phone call from Miss Traveller. She is a geologist and is out surveying just north east of loch long. Working on top of a munro today. Looks like battening down the hatches tomorrow.

Photo from better weather. She is on the right. The one on the left is just north at Ullapool.

Been a bit blowy, and drizzly darn 'ere in the Sarf East, supposed to rain and blow a bit tomorrow but should be tempered by then ;)

Been out crunching me new head bearings over the potholes and speedbumps tonight - received wisdom appears to be 50 to 200 miles to bed 'em in, then re-torque, but 30 or so over ground seems to work...

With Autumn coming in, I'll be mostly wearing me trendy Halford's black incontinence pants tomorrow, just in case it rains on me :)

Blustery here in Shropshire overnight, but we did have a few elm stumpettes come down on a fence yesterday sometime, so off out with the chainsaw shortly. Also have a looksee if anymore damage happend, although i notice that that our neighbour who works for Western power was not called out last night... A good sign :)

Love it!! :) Where was the pic taken?

Its Knockan Crag, just north of Ullapool. She was surveying up there and visited for a look round. When she saw the statue (it represents a modern day Geologist) she went back to the car for her survey kit and posed for the photo.

This link describes ths site and location.

Brilliant photo there Traveller. Can't open the blog due to the winds, but I know the area is good for Lewisian Gneiss, one of the hardest rocks in Scotland and possibly uk. Don't ask me how I know

As an aside, found my TV arial, didn't land in the loch which was a bit of luck, got her back up and TV working spasmodically :cool2:
I'm ok, got a 6 berth twin axle van, the guys next to me have a tourer, they were rockin and rollin last night and probably tonight,ha ha :D :cool2:

My choice, I get silly money for staying away and I hate hotels and b&b's, might get a contract closer to home next year ( say that every year), but the sound of the dollar always gets me. :mockery17:

Could be worse, on Skye we had to tie the vans down with ratchet straps. Sure beats the hell out of a luxurious hotel costing mega bucks

Stay cool guys, hope the winds heading your way don't affect you too much

Did I say dying out ???????

Not a fe kin chance, been raining here non stop since last Monday morning, day and night, bloody pain in the ass.
But, do not fear, for it is heading your way tomorrow. Main road A82 blocked due to a land side, went round the "loch road" , wasn't much better, trees lying all over the road.

I guess you guys won't get it as bad! but it's really p1ssing me off now.

Stay cool guys, could be worse, could be on the Corran ferry the now, really rockin an rollin  I can see it from the safe haven of the Ardgour Hotel :D o
