Nearly dropped the bike...

Had a bloody close one earlier!!!

I was adjusting my chain on the Africa Twin. It's only the second notch I've taken it up since it was put on 12,500 miles ago (DID VX525 Gold and Black). I like to push against the tyre with the top half of my body to keep the cams located in the pins as I'm tightening up the axle nut.

I went in a bit to vigorously (more like an All Black hooker) and hit the tyre. The bike then rolled off the center stand whilst I was sitting on the floor. :eekicon: :eekicon: :eekicon:

She moved forward about half a foot, perfectly straight and I sprang up like a Gazelle and just managed to grab the Top Box before she went down... :idea-013: I managed to save her from a bashing and my pride (and wallet) from taking a kicking. :cool2: :D

How it never went straight down I've no idea. I'm just glad I keep the bars straight and she rolled upright for half a foot. I wont be making that mistake in a hurry...

Anyone done anything similar?

No but I did drop my Son's F650 when I came home and he had left it at the front of the garage and in the way of me getting the R45 in. I pushed it to the back and hauled it on the mainstand only to see as I walked away it rock forward again and fall off its stand and into my XR400. No harm done I picked it up and put it back on the stand. Went back outside hopped on the R45 and rode it into the garage and rode into the back wheel of the F650 and down it went again. Two drops in as many minutes.

Boy was he chuffed but at least it taught him not to block me out my own garage.

Man, that sounds like a typical dose of Sods Law.... Glad the bike was okay though.

I know dropping it shouldn't cause any damage as I have engine bars, but the sheer weight of the thing and my particularly bad dose of Sods Law would result in broken levers/indicators/other items... Just glad I can still move so quick...
