New GSA

Just been into Riders to have a look at the water cooled GSA. It's a really big bike but I must admit it looks good.

Did I book a test ride? Nope scared to. My 800's not a year old yet.

I threw a leg over one yesterday and it's notcably lighter than my 08 bike. Quite nice actually. I did say I'd be back for a test ride and I probably will. Not sure I can go with the 16K price tag (Including the obligatory three alloy boxes) especially as I have only ever bought a new bike once before an that was 6K for a varadero.

It really is a large lump of cash. I thought it felt lighter as well. The one I looked at had the gps fitting as well so I suppose that means buying the BMW unit.

I believe the Garmin 660 works with it,

it's just the scroll wheel that requires the BMW badged one

Seen one at the Ace last Sunday and i must say the look is growing on me.Have not ridden one yet but will do later in the year. Thinking of maybe selling mine private next year use the money as a deposit for a low mileage second hand one

Love the look of the blue one

16k for a fekkin bike!

It really is getting ridiculous...

I know. You could buy a bloody good car for that money

In fairness it's "only" 11.5K but if you load it up with all the toys, computers and ally boxes you are up at 16K

Two new cheap cars, that is.

But, yeah. 2k GS here. Well, at the menders. I can't imagine spending 23k euro on a new bike either.

And it's fekkin monstrous. :)

Not a bloody chance!

My strom set me back 3k about 6-7 years ago and she's still doing the job for me. She costs me about £200 a year in tax and insurance even if I don't use her, so she's alreet by me! :)

As for a car, I have a Xsara Picasso that I use for running about, work etc and it cost me 1.8k 3 years ago and has been a good little runner (touch wood!).

Just can't imagine spending anywhere near double figures for a bike, or a car!

Yes true its a shedload of money and yes you could have 2 or more bikes for the same money. The way we(as the bike gets used a lot 2up) see it its our hobby/lifestyle and we are now nearly kids free and are able next year to afford one. While we are still fit enough to climb onto a bike and we sort of can afford it why not go for a new bike(well second hand new).
If the new GSA is shit and i dont like it i sell it and go for something else

Surprized Phil posted on this, normally high figures like that make him faint :D
Come on Phil, tell us the story of the van for a tenner

Hi Pete, no ones knocking the reason for anyone spending that on a bike. If the sums work for you then go for it bud.

For me (obviously others) 16k is an unimaginablely eye watering amount of cash for a bike be it
If I sold all four bikes, I'd still have to find well over 7k!

The van, oh yes.
I once bought an Escort van for a tenner [emoji6]

Bought a van for a tenner, it used a lot of water & then 'hydraulic'd' & wouldn't start turned out to be a cracked head). Sourced another head for... errr, a tenner.
Unfortunately the cambelt kit, hg kit & stretch bolts came to an eye watering £140 (as I recall)

I came to rebuild the 'top end' and realised there were no cap caps on the replacement head (these are precision machined to a specific head & NOT interchangeable. ...)
Long story short, I HAD to use the old ones but they locked the cam solid once tightened! (Out of tolerance...) so, I shimmed them up with bits of paper so the cam would turn (my fave bodge to date & well worthy of bodgers corner but sadly no pics :( )

Van ran perfectly, sold 4 yrs later for 500 quid [emoji3]

Bet you wished you never asked eh

I bought an 1100 Mk2 Escort in the mid 90s for £20. Little bit of welding underneath and a pair of wheel arches and a 1600 motor and I ran it for a good few years. Went like the wind it did. In the end I was plating on plates and scrapped it for £90
