New Transalp

Apparently, there's a new Honda Transalp due to be released. Details from MCN -

Briefly, sporting the same 755cc parallel twin as the new CB750 Hornet, boasting a claimed 90.5bhp and 55.4lb.ft – putting it squarely in competition with the likes of the 94bhp BMW F850GS for the middleweight top spot.

That exhaust would have to go - it's nearly the size of our wheelie bin.

Looks good, specs good. Reasonably priced too I believe. £7995. It could be a winner for Honda. .

Looks good, quite a few rider aids though that may be over kill for 90bhp. Was reading about it yesterday.

Keep it simple, like wot I am, and there is less cost involved (I know its nearly all just software driven ,so lowish cost) and a lot less to go wrong.

If the time ever comes and I want to replace the F8GS then the T7 is the only real alternative.

Abandoned the old 2006 Transalp for a 2016 Africa Twin, which is jolly good fun and all that, but only when all of the annoying traction control tech switched off (Me, too much of the old fart dog to be taught new tech tricks). This new TA, well, fond memories of that old V-twin engine, the comfy seating, jumpers for goal-posts, 9d change at the chippy ...

This new TA looks a lot'ish like an Africa Twin styling (background Alpine glaciers all gone ?).

I like it and can't wait to see it in the flesh. It maybe a winner for Honda as it is priced to sell. Remember though they did the same for the new Africa Twin (reasonably priced to start with and then went up a fair bit)
I think Honda have missed the boat again for a larger bike to try and compete against the GS.....the NT is not even close and the Crosstourer is not being revived in any different format.....they could have done something with it IMHO......

I'd have to see it in the flesh, but first impression it's definitely a Honda. Technically interesting but a bit bland.

The nose looks a bit uninspired and plasticky, at least in the pics and not putting on some kind of high twin tailed exhaust is a bit of a missed opportunity. Though what it really needs is a Laser ProDuro nicely tucked in along that subframe rail.

to be honest just looking at the pictures I think Suzuki have done a better job with the V-Strom 800......

Have to admit, the wee Strom has come along quite nicely from the cheap little soft-roader it was born as. That's a nice looking bike complete with the Dr-Big nod on the nose.

The Alp is probably better when seen in the flesh, they tend to be like that, and it'll be a good bike because it's a Honda, but I do feel they missed a few opportunities.

The black version looks a bit better already. Still needs a high can though.
