I've just been into Riders ( local BMW dealers ). They've got a few 2nd hand bikes as you'd expect but what I found surprising. A 4 year old 1300GT 8,000 miles same age 1200GSA same mileage and another GSA 18 months old 4k.

These are all long distance touring bikes, why spend all that money and don't use the bike?

Because they are the latest "must have" toy?

I know the Transalp isn't exactly a big tourer, but it's certainly a bike fortravelling in (comparative) comfort...so I was a bit surprised that mine had only 1400 miles on the clock when I bought it at 5 years old.
:ride-bumps:

I hasten to add that I've tried to balance things up by putting on another 30,000 in the five years I've had it!

Andy's new bike is six years old and had something like 2K on it (but a damn sight more now). I'm sure he will be along soon to fill in the blanks

Yes, when I bought it there was 2361 miles on the clock. When it got it's first MOT at 3 years old it had done 1325 miles. I really should stop all this running about because it needs a 6000 mile service this weekend. ;)

Do bears shit in the woods? ;) Too right I will be doing it, not paying umpteen quid an hour for someone to do something I can do myself. :)

Looking to do my service on the RT, tranny, FD and engine oil done so far looking to change the brake and clutch fluids, check the valves and the throttle body balance. Home made manometer would be a laugh ........
