It appears that TfL (Transaport for London) have decided to do something about the number of incidents involving motorcycles in London. To this end they have come up with a Motorcycle Safety Action Plan.

Hope it does some good.

Interesting of the top 5 incidents classed as serious collision 3 are due to 'other vehicles' however out of the top 5 classed as fatal collision one stands out 'loss of control'.

One says be aware of other road users at all times and the other is know your limits.

Not sure if this represents a national picture, but speaking to a motorcycle policeman a while back and he stated that 80% of incidents involving motorbikes, were not the riders fault. "No surprise there then".

Sounds feasible based on the numbers I saw a few years back. However just because it's not out fault that a situation arises doesn't mean that with a of training we could have possibly avoided a collision. At the end of the day it still hurts regardless who's fault it was.
