There's a ford over the Nairn way, John may know it? I took my Crosstourer through it on my maiden journey on my new £11.5K bike, DAMN! I so nearly ended on my arse!
It wasn't that deep, but that green slime is like ice! It was pretty !umpy as well, must see if I can find the PIC I took! Watch those fords, especially solo.
Yerrrrs, IKWYM Jim... Its the sneaky, small but dangerous 6" boulder that catches the front wheel unexpectedly thats the bugger. I took Bimbler@xrv (paul) for a test ride of his new (to him) DRZ400 around Shropshire on Thursday, cracking day and the lanes were perfect as were the B roads, however the couple of river fords were dealt with by a tootle across the adjacent footbridge. I
KNOW that the rocks bite in the River Onny... I have seen the sad effect of a drowned DR350 and the equally bedraggled rider, and that was in high summer.
The solution is to always have an enduro rider along who will always be willing to test a crossing after a tempting, "Nah, no way I would cross that ford.., although Mad Bazza did it last week on his back wheel....", and wait for the competitive instincts to kick in!
