What instruments do you play?

Got to thinking this evening about dragging my Bass out and starting to play again and I wondered if we had any other musicians on the forum.

When I say musicians it's a term I use loosely with reference to myself as I'm not that good but I can make a noise :)

I used to have a house full of '80s synths and sequencers but sold them a while back and just have a couple of Basses and a guitar now.

So, what do the rest of you play?
 
In my yoof (like, yesterday :rolleyes2: ) I learnt to play classical and folk guitar, but I was never much good to my gret disappointment. I also had piano lessons to the same effect. Being tone deaf didn't help :( . I don't think you'll want me in your band :cool:
 
I "play" a tenor sax. I got good enough to know that I'd never get really good at it and it fell by the wayside. One day I'll dig it out ad get those chops back.
 
Bodhran is the closest I have ever got to playing an instrument. My brother got all the musical talent. There is an acoustic guitar in the our house but no music has ever left its sound box.

Not really.

Got an old piano in reasonable tune. Can play it a bit. No good for motorbike travelling.
Tried to play a harmonica once but failed.
I brought a Korg Monotribe to the National this year and used it to annoy lots of innocent bystanders.
 
When I was at school I used to play a Trombone, and for a kid I was pretty good. But walking 2 1/2 miles to school and back with it put paid to taking it further and I gave up.

I now play the Drums, although I use that term loosely lol... I've got a Tama Starclassic Birch kit in Red Aztec Fade, with Iron Cobra bass pedal, Iron Cobra Hi Hat, Zildjian and Sabian Cymbals and Roadpro hardware. Set up in my bedroom.

I can play along to the likes of Snow Patrol, Feeder, Coldplay etc, but because of the noise I don't go on it that often.
 
Recorder (cassette ) stone deaf , totally useless when it came to playing any musical instrument, my sister in law tried to teach me the guitar once , but having fingers the size of sausages did not help, I wish i could play like Claus here, the first time i saw him was in the seventies at a bech party , sitting on the back of a land rover playing an acoustic guitar

I seem to recall you were playing all night in XRV Wales National, wasn't there a piano on stage ??? or was it some other National :thumbsupanim:


Or might I have just succumbed eventually to the after effects of Geoff's raffle ticket win of McAllans ??? :confused: :D
 
I have never learned to play a single instrument, apart from at primary school bashing some cymbals in a play and going to about 3 recorder lessons because I fancied a girl who also went. I haven't got a note or a tune in me, cant sing a note, and can barely even clap to a rhythm. I am in awe of anyone who can play anything however badly as it will be a thousand times better than me. Yet I love listening to all sorts of music.

Same league as Austin and Vader, I can get noise out of a didgeridoo but the blowing out while breathing in lark has my lungs in knots.

I like going out Carol-singing ............................. but that's out-of-doors, and in the dark :)

Ooh, I'd forgotten I have a Bodhran stashed somewhere.

Might dig it out and annoy the neighbours :)

I've played guitar since my teenage years, feeling especially at home on the bass guitar. In my forties I learned the sax, which was interesting and a lovely contrast to the guitar, but mentally challenging. I can't explain why I haven't felt the need to pick up any musical instrument for over three years now.
 
My current favourite to play is my Dean 8 string bass,

It sounds awesome, just wish I could do it justice :(
