How does this sound?
We meet up at a campsite in Normandie on Sat/Sun. Which means people can make their own travel plans. Phil mentioned that he might take the Ferry to LeHarve. Just out of Leharve is Hornfleur which has a stunning little harbour and Restaurants.
The problem with meeting up is that the ferry arrives in the morning,if we take the train we would have to leave about 3am :eekicon:
Stay in Normandie till Tuesday and than move on to a campsite in Arras, Thursday move on to a campsite near Ypres and leave from there Sat or Sunday.
That should give us enough to see a bit (never going to manage all) at each area. Not sure what day the northern guys would want to leave again, that is why i said sat/sun

If someone can explain to me how to attach a google map, i marked a map with memorials, cemetery, battlefields...

Yep, I can see it.

Why would it take so long to get there from the north? Oh from Lancaster not in a Lancaster.....

I've got a load of coordinates for sites. Eg Maisie Battery, Dead Mans Corner, Zeppelin Hanger. Let me know if you want any.

I may even join you, although if I do I'll sail from Portsmouth to Le Havre and meet up somewhere.

I'll look it out. Can't miss it just head for Grandcamp Maisie and it's signposted off the main road. It's also shown on google earth.

Could we find time to swing by Fonsommes? It is not directly relevant but is the source of the Somme and I have this idea of visiting the source of several rivers on various trips. We'd be passing nearby anyway.

Camping maybe not so far from it. Easy days ride

So what's the plan? WW1 sites first and then Normandy?

Just had a quick look for me ferry would cost £166. Travelling on a Sunday bumps up the prices a little. It's also most schools half term I believe.

Well that's me out then. I do 'child rearing' during half terms - the previous week, or the following one???
