For the record, I'm definitely out of this one. :(

If things go even remotely according to plan I will have started a new job just then... (If not, I will be far too busy getting one. I prefer plan A.)

I just had a answer from the campsite in Ypres. They do have spaces for us at the time we want. I did ask provisionally for 4 tent spaces and about 8 people and they said that space for tent and bikes is no problem :thumbsupanim:

Just a comment about this Ypres camp site. This is our site of choice when we travel to the northern side of mainland Europe. Good location, a steady walk to the Menin Gate and the town, good washrooms, plenty of hot water and pot washing facilities. They do tents, camper vans, caravans and also have wooden camping chalets that bikers use.

We can make this site in one hop from Derby, through the tunnel and about an hour from Calais. Been using it since it opened.

an excellent campsite with clean facilities and very friendly with an Aldi just up the road and close to the Menin Gate

will see if I can join you on this one having had such a great and moving time on my first visit

John

Hi John, I should have read the whole thread before my previous post. Re Aldi, yest its dead handy and we have had some good barbeque food from that shop.

Right, just to make things clear, this is still on. Found space on the municipal campsite in Arramange (?).
As I am about to pay a little deposit just wanted to see who is still going ?
I got 4 spaces booked in Ypres, will book a train for about 8ish on Sunday morning for the train and plan to have lunch in Hornfleur, go on to Pegasus bridge and than the campsite
So,who is still coming ???

Well Andy is/was coming down on Saturday so I was thinking of leaving Sunday morning about 8ish to get to Hornfleur for lunch. Coming back the following sunday

Ok, I'll have a look.

Which camp site are you staying at in Normandy because your first choice doesn't open until the Monday (you said)

The municipal one in Arromanche, its the one on top of the hill. I would have prefered the other one as it look neat. Grounds of a old Chalet, you can rent rooms too but ££££

Looking at travel times/costs etc.

Still interested.
Ok as it seems that most people can't make for one reason or another I decided I skip Normandy as I been a few times before. So the plan is now to go on Sunday straight to Ypres, stay there for the whole time and do little trip's as there is plenty in the surrounding area to see.
Sorry Mike if that upsets your plans a bit but I know that we both have seen a lot of Normandy already but I haven't been to any of the WW1 sites at all
