Thanks Bob, it's her 60th this year (June), do you think I'll get away with saying, "Oh, that drawing was your present!"... nah, didn't think so either.
Just noticed that the pictures have disappeared from the thread so I've linked them via FB as they'll always be on there, just in case anyone wants to see them again.
Austin, if you're ever passing Stuarts (I know he's not too far from you) you'll have to pop in and see it. It really doesn't do it justice on a pc monitor. It kind of annoys me a bit because it'd be nice if there was some way to really capture it in its true form.
I remember showing Derek (palerider) the original and then on the monitor and he said right away the difference was noticeable. I suppose that's why folk like to go to art galleries and see paintings in the flesh and what not...
Drawing of a young boy holding his football... Looks 10 times better in the flesh. New technique of not using any blending stumps or tortillions or clothes etc... All done using just 4 pencils and shaded by hand. I'll be using this technique from now on.
It was worth the 7 hours or so to draw it to see her face (She didn't know I was doing it, a lass at work) when I said what do you think of my latest drawing. I figured I might as well test out a new drawing technique on something for someone rather than a random picture.
My sister gave birth about 5 weeks ago, I'm over the moon because it's my sister that I raised from when I was 14 years old so little Tommy feels like a grandson rather than a nephew.
Anyway, it had to be done and done right! This is him 1 week old and over the past 4 weeks I've done a bit here and a bit there. Probably close to 15 hours to complete.
