My serious input - Versys thou.
Inline 4 to make it sportyish & different from the twins, with upright seating so it's not a literal pain in the neck in town.
Quite good too by all accounts & now a decent looking bike.

We appear to have reached a decision (for now)
I think I'm dipping my toe into the world of sports tourers and going for a VFR 800 AND keeping Big Bird for now
I'll then make a decision on which I'm keeping in the spring

Thanks mate, but part of what I'm trying to achieve is getting a newer bike as well
I've found what looks like a good deal on an 08 bike and am in talks with the owner
