For once, went up a Forest track with permission. Good fun without having to check out for any Forestry guys the same time as hooning about on their tracks :D
Got a phone call from one of my directors wanting me to go look at a job last minute " Don't worry he said, you can take your car up the forest track "
"Bollocks I said, that track is part of the Snowman Rally each year ", plus a quick phone call to the client confirmed the state of the track at the top of the hill, about 3 miles in off the main drag.

In fact, last time I was spectating at that section, I took along our dear departed friend, the late Jim Simpson. That was last February and even back then he was struggling for breath, docs told him it was angina :(

Anyways at short notice, couldn't get a 4 x 4 nor could I borrow a works van as the lads are finishing early for the hols, so out with the old AT, taken out of storage and quick mot for Jim's funeral. PPE in my rucksack, camera and off we go.

This was the bend where Jim attended his last rally

Such a shame its such a rigmarole for access rights in Scotchland! Shooters like it all to themselves....wot could possibly go wrong if we all shared?

    Cheers Lads, thanks for comments.
Tone, it used to be ok up here for accessing forestry tracks, but the small percentage of hooligans feked it up. There were instances of forests going up in flames due to idiots who didn't know any better.
Forestry Commision have never had it so good, thousands of tons of wood being extracted for biomass boilers and the like, so much so that they now have tarred access tracks where they tie onto the main road ( used to be a bit dodgy having sub base splattered over the main road at these haul exits.)
They now encourage MTB's, walkers and the like, but any thought of a 4 or 2 stroke is strictly forbidden.
So, unless you have permission to use a private estate or farmland you are pretty much screwed. Pity really as the scenery is astounding, and I know of a lot of tracks that meander into the hill, often with a barrier of trees planted adjacent to the main road.
Trees lines make a good baffle ;)

Hope you have all had a great Xmas. Best wishes for the New year :thumbsupanim:
